CockyBoys has a plethora of female fans, and was even featured in Cosmopolitan as one of the best porn websites for women (and the only male-on-male site)! Our female fan base has formed a community on Twitter, and beginning today on The Cocky Beast, we’ll be featuring a regular column written by one of these ladies focusing on gay porn, gay men, and what makes females so turned on by the CockyBoys!

I was young when I discovered my enjoyment for male-on-male porn, just beginning to explore my own sexuality and confused as hell. I kept a consistently clear browser history and a closed mouth, knowing full well pornography alone was taboo — particularly my specific “taste” in pornography. It felt like a secret so dirty I couldn’t even tell my closest friends as we fumbled through adolescence and Zac Efron movies together. I spent hours holed up in my room reading Harry Potter M/M fan fiction, watching free clips on e-stores like Mr. S Leather, and contracting viruses from tube sites. On the other hand, I wasn’t contracting STIs from classmates and I wasn’t hurting anyone, so deep down I knew what I was doing couldn’t be all wrong. But the secret made me feel so isolated.

When social media platforms grew and porn stars began maintaining active public accounts, things changed for me. Not only could I follow my favorite stars’ Instagram accounts and see what they ate for dinner, I could actually talk to them. Unlike rock stars, movie stars, and Hollywood celebrities, porn stars frequently interacted with their fans on social media! This brought them crashing down to earth for me — they became real people who were no longer anonymous sex gods. These men took goofy pictures of their pets and went to the grocery store for protein shakes and videotaped themselves singing in the shower. These guys who I loved watching have sex on my computer screen were just like me. The shame I felt about my habit began to diminish, and allowed me to begin opening up about my interest in gay pornography.

Social media helped connect me to a whole following of females who also enjoyed what I enjoyed. I knew from the fan fiction sites that females frequently wrote stories about gay lovers, but I never knew until the Twitter takeoff of the late 2000s just how many women watched gay porn. When I first started watching, I was too young to understand what kept me so hooked, but now, with lots of ladies to back me up, the reasons are clear.

In the most basic way, the formula is pretty simple: it’s two male bodies minus any female bodies plus sex. Straight women are sexually attracted to the male body, and gay pornography shows two male bodies at once whereas straight pornography only shows one. Straight women are not sexually attracted to other women, and gay pornography does not include females in the sex scenes. Simple.

Diving deeper, female fans of gay porn say they enjoy the primal, animalistic nature of sex between two men. In straight porn, the woman is often degraded in a way that turns off other women, where as gay porn takes that sexism out of the equation placing both partners on equal ground. Add in twice the amount of testosterone and you’ve got rippling muscles and sexual aggression galore. In addition, with the absence of a female body, the female viewer does not feel the need to compare her own body to that of a porn star. Watching straight pornography, I would constantly find myself wondering do my boobs look like that from that angle? Can I ever shave everything that closely? Should I wear that much mascara to bed? Who’s really that flexible?! That kind of self-consciousness is an immediate turn-off. When watching two guys go at, I experience no kind of worrying like that. I can just observe and enjoy.

“The performers are just beautiful; they love and appreciate their own bodies and seem to really enjoy what they do,” Twitter user @VivianTNJ explains. “I love the way they interact on Twitter. It makes it more personal and friendly. [The female fans] all enjoy discussing the stars and their scenes, and it’s great to have that in common.”

Besides CockyBoys, most gay porn websites do not acknowledge the possibility of a female following or keep that in mind with their marketing. Lesbian porn has developed such an enormous male following that its makers have completely changed creative tactics, aiming more toward the tastes of straight men than lesbians. Through my years of fandom, I have discovered that CockyBoys has one of, if not the largest, female following of any gay porn website. The immediate question is, why? Every website boasts a handful of the same things — beautiful men with chiseled bodies and photogenic faces, a smattering of tattoos and maybe a piercing here and there, and lots of soulful eyes — so that can’t be what draws women to CockyBoys. It’s something other than the CockyBoys models that stands out to women.

It’s their creative style. And women are becoming more vocal about their needs for good reason.

Very well written Jackie! I completely related to your account of growing up and wondering why I am so attracted to something so taboo. Even now I don’t discuss this topic with family or close friends because I know how close-minded they are. Thanks Jackie for this article and thanks Jake, R.J., Benny, and all of those wonderful Cockyboys for recognizing the ladies that love them.
